Good Points: They did after we complained change our room from a disgraceful excuse for a room to a reasonable room. Thai food was excellent pity it wasn't available all weekend.
Bad Points: On checking in we were asked to pay all monies up front. This is not standard practice in hotels. Checking out is the time for payment knowing what services you have used. We ended up paying for one night up front. Other two nights paid at end of stay as normal. The first room we were given had a crack in the wall wide enough to put your finger in, the bed frames were filthy - made us think of bed bugs. After discussion finally shown to another room which had been redecorated and had newer beds in was an improvement. However the toilet did not flush properly and the bathroom door did not fit. The worst thing about our stay was the noise levels coming from the next door pub till 2 and 3 in the morning. When I had asked about the noise levels during a previous phone conversation I was told it was very peaceful. I know the noise was not created by the hotel but honesty goes a long way.
General review: 2nd room just about acceptable. Breakfast warm on 2nd two days. Most of the staff reasonably friendly and helpful even though english not first language for all but one.

Good Points: Available at short notice and central to town.
Bad Points: Bathroom light was inadequate and basin overhead mirror light did not work. Room was too hot with no fan or airconditioning.
General review: I would like to have known more about the facilities offered.

Truly dreadful: the rooms overlook the taxi rank, and the youth of Stroud are yelling at each other until 4am; the service is downright surly and the breakfast served in blackout conditions. Guests are advised to keep the shower curtain inside the bath to 'lessen' the chance that water will go through ceilings below and into the dining room. Avoid!
