Upon arrival staff checking in had no personality. Decor very tired and in need of repair. Room basic, clean but furniture in need of replacement. Breakfast expensive, tables had not been cleaned before being reset, crumbs on the table. No welcome to your table, crockery old and cups cracked, crockery old and worn.
Drinks very expensive.
As this was booked as a surprise found it frustrating that I had been earlier in the day to pay for room and breakfast and the docile person behind reception proceeded to point out how much it costs, I told him it was a surprise but still continued.
Would never revisit or recommend

Good Points: we told them how un happy about the lack of facilities they tried to find us alternative accomadation
Bad Points: did not actually stay at the hotel when we arrived at 6pm they were not expecting us ,and gave me someone elses form to fill in .the booking in process took 20 mins which was far too long in my opinion , the room was very cold although pleasant .we had booked this hotel as on the web site it advertised a gym facilities which they no longer have

had a nice walk around the garden centre which has a wide variety
of items for sale, only disappointing thing was the cafe. I found it to be inefficient and lax. I was the only one in at the time, staff were too busy eating themselves in the kitchen to serve. I left disgruntled.
