We had intended to camp locally but the terrible weather forced Plan B. We found the hotel by chance and checked in for one night. The place seemed cosy enough but a bit 'tired'. ( Torn wall paper in the gents off the lobby; grubby carpeting; a battered and cheap bedroom door; a tangle of electrical extension wiring in the bedroom;) The bed was fine and a recently modernised bathroom was up to standard. The breakfast was splendid but would have been better served in the sunny conservatory rather than the unattractive back dining room. Staff were pleasant and friendly even when we asked that the musak be turned down- which they did immediately. Plenty of carparking and super location close to the National Park.
