9th of January - St Fillans Day

9th of January is the 9th day of the year

St Fillans Day:
There are two questions about the precise date for the feast day of St Fillan, most significantly that of which Saint Fillan is concerned, another of the same name being celebrated on 20th June. And the St Fillan whose saint’s day is January 9th is commemorated by some ten days later.
Fillan lived in the 8th century. Born in Ireland he was of royal birth, in spite of which he became a monk early in life. Fillan lived as a hermit near St Andrews, later becoming abbot of the monastery there, though he returned at the end of his life to being a hermit. A famous legend is told about the saint (whose own name means little wolf) using his powers to make a wolf that had killed his ox carry out the work in which the dead beast had been engaged, hauling materials to a church being built. Miracle cures are linked with Fillan, especially of the mentally ill, whose patron saint he is.
