2nd of March - St Chads Day
2nd of March is the 61st day of the year
St Chads Day:
St Chad is not these days a well known figure, but he was a significant force in the introduction of Christianity in Britain. It was at Lindisfarne that this 7th century cleric had his education, thereafter rising in the church and becoming bishop of that place. He also headed the church in the entirety of Mercia, with Lichfield as his seat in that recently converted kingdom. For reasons not entirely clear he is closely associated with medicinal springs, and is indeed their patron saint, such springs in Lichfield and King’s Cross in London along with various others given power by the holy Chad. His remains were moved to Lichfield on his death, and that fine city is said to have grown in part because of pilgrimages to his shrine.
