1st of December - World Aids Day

1st of December is the 335th day of the year

World Aids Day:
The first World Aids Day took place on December 1st 1988, the brainchild of information officers in the team working on the disease at the World Health Organisation. Precise details of where and when the disease originated are impossible to know, but it began to be noticed in the USA in 1981. Since that time more than 25 million people worldwide have died from the disease, and far more than that are now living with it. Every year the United Nations chooses a theme for World AIDS Day, to highlight an aspect of the disease and its impact, and many choose to wear the red ribbon symbol of solidarity with sufferers on December 1st.
