Hotels in Newmarket
The Cadogan Hotel is a 19th Century building steeped in character and history. Just 500m from the High Street. Whether you're visiting Newmarket on business or pleasure you can look forward to a comfortable stay. The hotel offers 12 ensuite rooms, with compilmentary breackfast.
In 1895 a gentleman of a rather dubious nature know as Gordon Chetwynd sold what was known then as Rutland Cottage to the 5th Earl of Cadogan. The Earl numbered amongst his closest friends Edward Price of Wales, later to become King Edward VII. Rumour has it that the king himself became a frequent visitor to the hotel and was known to have entertained the beautiful Lilly Langtry. Secret passages are said to exist between Cadogan Hotel and the Kings quarters at Palace House.
