Situated on its own island at the meeting point of three great sea-lochs and surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery, Eilean Donan Castle sits in one of the most stunning locations in all of Scotland. As the most photographed castle in the country (and some say the world) it is simply a MUST in any itinerary involving a tour of the Scottish Highlands.

Crammed full of 800 years of history, Eilean Donan has witnessed much conflict through the ages; from the Vikings to the Jacobites, from the quarrels of the Lord of the Isles to the disastrous Battle of Glenshiel. The original stronghold was built around 1260 by Alexander II and for most of its history represented a key militarily strategic sentinel.

The castle has also been something of a TV and movie star in latter years having been used as a location for films such as Loch Ness, James Bond and Highlander.

Located in an area of exceptional beauty and grandeur, with breathtaking mountain, loch and forest scenery, no trip to Scotland would be complete without a visit to this national treasure.
