Nestling between the Wye and Usk Valleys, this easily accessible 16th century inn, historically linked to nearby Raglan Castle, is the hub of the thriving village. Its young owners have looked to combine the best of the traditional - beamed celings, slate floors and wood panelling with a moidern yet reassuringly comfortable look - leather and whicker chairs and design led fabrics.

Bedrooms are fresh and spotless, those in the main house are individually decorated, some witrh sleigh beds and delightful rural views.

The same view prevails throughout in the contemporary restaurant, the private dining room or the lounge bar with its magnificent stone fireplace. Steak filled panninis at lunch, posh cottage pie, anna potatoes and roasted vegetables or more innovative dishes in the weekly changing specials board. What all have in common are local meats, market fresh fish and breads, pastas and deserts are produced in-house.

Holding the 'Cask Marque' award means real ales, a great selection of Belgian beers and continental lagers on tap, as well as classic and new world wines by the glass.

Where best to enjoy these than the ultimate 'Country Bar' with its array of country pursuits trophies or, for many months of the year, the south facing terrace and patio.
