The city of Ripon dates from around the 7th century and it has evolved into a place full if beauty and charm. Ripon has many historic buildings, a beautiful cathedral and some traditional customs, the most well known is "the setting of the watch", which is a thousand year old ceremony that takes place every night at 9pm with the blowing of a horn.
