Black Bourton is a village and civil parish in the West Oxfordshire district, near to Bampton and Carterton. The church also has tombs dedicated to the Hungerford family. They, and the major landowners who followed them, used to live in a large manor house with a swan pool which was eventually demolished in the 1930s with only little evidence of it remaining today. Carterton grew rapidly as the result of its proximity to the Royal Air Force base at Brize Norton. The town has a modern centre and many amenities including a leisure centre.
