Castle Ashby is a civil parish, a country house and an estate village set in rural Northamptonshire. Castle Ashby itself is the seat of the Marquess of Northampton and the village was set up originally to service the needs of Castle Ashby itself. The impressive house was rebuilt in its current form in the late 16th and early 17th century. The grounds have been the setting for many events, including two Elton John open-air concerts and, between 1984 and 1992, it was the site for the annual Christian music festival 'Greenbelt'. There is a high quality cricket pitch in front of the castle, which also features a mile long drive! The picturesque village of Castle Ashby also offers a Rural Shopping Yard, with a variety of quirky and interesting shops as well as a relaxing walk in the gardens of the Stately Home. Every year the village holds the popular Castle Ashby Country Fair; a day of entertainment and fun activities for all ages which helps raise funds for local community needs. Attractions at the next show will include over 100 trade stands and a craft fair; as well as various animal shows. There will also be show jumping; clay shoot competitions and muzzleloaders, a Petting Zoo and much more.
