Crouch End is an especially attractive north London suburb. It has lots of green spaces, a handsome Broadway dominated by a brick clock tower and dozens of interesting shops, bars and restaurants. The area has long been home to a creative community of actors, writers, comedians and musicians. Many novels and short stories are set here, and the movie "Shaun Of The Dead" was filmed in Crouch End. The King's Head pub, a popular nightspot, hosts comedy nights and high quality live music ranging from folk and jazz to blues and salsa. Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox - Eurythmics - once lived above a record shop in the Broadway, and Stewart at one time owned the Church recording studio on Crouch Hill. The area is fringed on the west by Highgate Woods, Queen's Wood and a large area of playing fields. It also boasts two green-flag parks. More than 25,000 people a year come to Priory Park to enjoy the trees, ornamental gardens and sporting facilities, while the smaller Stationers Park is an oasis of tranquillity, notable for its waterfall, stream and children's wooden fort. Nearby attractions are Alexandra Palace, Wood Green Shopping City, and the 16th Century Bruce Castle Museum.
