Fulham, in south-west London, is one of the capital's most expensive and desirable areas, although it caters equally for visitors on a budget and it has attractions to suit every taste. Surrounded by the lovely riverside scenery of one of the Thames' spectacular loops, Fulham is close to central London and just next door to Chelsea's endless chic, the major concert, theatre and conference venues of Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush, and the great exhibition halls of Earl's Court and Olympia. A key quality of Fulham is its cosmopolitan variety, with small specialist shops, restaurants, cafés, bars, markets and antiques outlets offering up all manner of individual and irresistible surprises. High-street shoppers can find plenty of familiar stores in the Fulham Broadway Centre, which also includes a cinema complex and fitness centre. Football fans might enjoy a tour of Chelsea FC's Stamford Bridge stadium, or the chance to see Fulham FC play at home at Craven Cottage. For more traditional sightseeing, Fulham Palace & Museum is worth visiting. Formerly home to the Bishops of London, and partly dating back to the 1400s, the palace building is set in beautiful grounds. Fulham's varied nightlife includes theatres, live pub music and late-night clubs.
