Kenton is a residential suburb in north-west London and an ideal base for travellers wishing to visit Wembley, to the south, or to explore the many charming attractions of Harrow, to the west. Kenton is an affluent area, largely characterised by semi-detached houses built between the two world wars. It's home to a large Asian community, a variety of acclaimed Indian restaurants and the beautiful new Shree Kutch Satsang Swaminarayan Temple. Shops selling Asian clothes and jewellery bring colour to the streets of Kenton, which also has a population of students attending the nearby University of Westminster schools at Northwick Park. Kenton Café, popular with many residents, is famous beyond the immediate area for delicious food and great service. Local facilities include Kenton Sports Club for adults and children of all abilities, a tennis club and a hockey club. Just a short distance away is Stanmore Golf Club, set on green hills surrounded by trees, which welcomes non-members. Visitors will find plenty to do in Harrow, which offers excellent shopping, eating and nightlife as well as historic buildings and cute pubs and tea rooms dotted along old-fashioned, winding roads. The impressive halls of Harrow School may be toured by groups.
