Osterley is a suburban town in the London Borough of Hounslow in West London. It is 10 miles south-west of Charing Cross. Osterley is defined by its bordering roads, the southern road being the A4 (The Great West Road), the northern being Jersey Road, the eastern road is Syon Lane, and the western is Thornbury Road. Osterley tube station features a 70 foot tower complete with art deco lighting. It is on the Piccadilly line, five stops from Heathrow. Osterley is a residential area known for its large amounts of green space. The district is notable for Osterley Park and house, a Tudor house transformed into an elegant neo-classical mansion. It has exceptional Robert Adam architecture and interiors with 18th-century pleasure grounds, ornamental lakes and floral displays. There is a Farm shop selling home-grown produce and the Jersey Galleries exhibits work by local artists. The town is home to the Sky News studios. Osterley is also famous for containing one of the London residences of The Sultan of Brunei, The Aviary Farm in Windmill Lane. Osterley was home to the international headquarters of the Gillette Company, and the Grade II listed Gillette building is another of Osterley’s Art Deco structures.
