Shepshed is a town in Leicestershire surrounded by beautiful countryside and still has a few thatched cottages that were home to framework Knitters in the 19th Century. The town boasts a 13th Century church, ‘St Botolph’s’ the tower and spire dominate the town that has many shops bars and restaurants, or close by is Snibston Discovery Park, set in the very heart of the beautiful National Forest on the site of a former Colliery, this is a museum of work and life, with over 90 exhibits including transport, fashion, engineering, add a Nature Reserve and play area, and even a ride on the train line used to transport the coal what else could possibly be asked for. Perhaps the noise and the thrill of racing cars and motorcycles at Donnington Grand Prix track or maybe the Museum where there is the largest collection of racing cars housed in five halls, or why not drive yourself around the track if your dare. Or how about a visit to Beacon Hill Country Park set in beautiful woodland with sheep, alpacas and even a Bronze Age Fort. Or there is always the Bell Foundry Museum where the bell was cast for St Paul’s Cathedral.
