Marlborough is situated in the picturesque rural northeast of Wiltshire. Bordering the Marlborough Downs and sitting gracefully 430ft above sea level in the shallow upland valley of the River Kennet, the twon straddles the A4 and for centuries was an important staging post on the great road from London to Bristol.
The town has one of the widest High Streets in England with many Georgian buildings and architectural styles, which span over 300 years. Every Wednesday and Staurday the centre of the High street becomes a bustling hive of activity as the local market takes place. Marlborough Tourist Information is available from the library in the High Street.
