Situated to the north of Stevenage in Hertfordshire is Little Wymondley, which is a larger village than it’s confusingly named neighbour Great Wymondley! The church of St Mary dates from the 15th century and underwent restoration in the 19th century and there are several interesting houses. The 16th century Bury with it’s moat, Poultry house, the fine 17th century Hall and the Georgian Wymondley House. Wymondley Priory is an early 13th century foundation turned into a house in the 16th and 17th centuries. It is now a popular wedding venue, especially for celebrities. There are also three pubs, including The Bucks Head which is over 400 years old and is a venue for local rock bands! The cricket ground is a focal point of the village and there is a small primary school. There is no train station, although the Great Northern Railway passes through Little Wymondley and the nearest station is at Stevenage 2 miles away. The Great North Road runs along the north-east boundary of the parish too. The village has much culture and historical interests to offer.
