The village of Woofferton lies at the junction of the A456 and A49 and is surrounded by the wide open Shropshire countryside, one of Shropshire’s most southerly villages with Ludlow to the north. At one time the village boasted a railway station on the Tenbury and Bewdley railway line, the line was opened in 1861 and operated by GWR and meant that it was possible to travel by train to Birmingham and Wolverhampton however by the end of the Second World War the road network had sufficiently improved rendering the railway almost redundant until the station causing the station to be closed in the 1960’s. The route of the track can still be seen however near the Salwey Arms. Woofferton is truly a location for those that enjoy the exploring the surrounding countryside, it is an ideal location for walking or touring and there is a splendid example of a 16th century listed manor house in the form of Ravenscourt Manor in the village.
