| Events in Hythe | 10 Places to Stay

On the edge of the New Forest, next to Southampton Water, Hythe has been described as “where the forest meets the sea”. With its pedestrianised Georgian high street and sea front promenade it offers panoramic views of shipping from sailboats to the latest ocean liners. Hovercraft, power boats and sea planes have all featured in Hythe’s maritime history and nautical links are continued today with a marina village and passenger ferry to Southampton accessed by a Victorian pier (the only pier in the forest). With an interesting variety of shops, a wide selection of places to eat and drink, plus a vibrant Tuesday market, Hythe is well worth a visit.
