Budleigh Salterton is a beautiful town on the East Devon coast which offers its visitors a quiet, peaceful and relaxing experience. Many of the elegant buildings are Georgian and Regency and it is the word “Elegance” That immediately springs to mind when one thinks of Budleigh Salterton. Even its sporting pursuits are refined with opportunities to enjoy golf, bowls and croquet. Continue the elegance theme with a visit to the Fairlynch Museum housed in a thatched cottage in the centre of the town. Alongside the exhibits on local and natural history are exhibitions on costume and lace. Marine Parade is a lovely pedestrian walk down to the river Otter where the pebble beach is excellent for strong swimmers. For those up to the climb, the view of Budleigh and the surrounding area from the top of the red sandstone cliffs is spectacular and really not to be missed. Despite its unspoilt dignity, Budleigh Salterton is not a place likely to bore its guests easily. It offers excellent shopping with fine restaurants and cafes for dining. Accommodation has it all too ranging from luxury hotels, to caravan parks and campsites. Holiday makers and day-trippers alike can even rent a beach hut.
