The tiny picturesque village of North Bovey in Devon sits on a hillside overlooking the river Bovey from where it takes its name. The river can be accessed via a path running down from the village church of John the Baptist. 18th Century traditional thatched cottages surround a village green on which stands a stone cross and pump. Beyond the village itself lies the rugged and beautiful expanse of the Dartmoor National Park. Within 30 miles is the lovely South Devon coast. At the hub of village life is the Ring of Bells, a traditional village inn dating back to the 13th Century. The inn offers excellent food and accommodation, not to mention a warm welcome to the weary traveller. The nearby North Bovey Castle golf course occupies the grounds of the old manor house. Bovey Castle is also a fine hotel with spa and gym facilities for guests to enjoy. Other local activities to be enjoyed include pony trekking, fishing and of course all the walking, rambling, cycling and exploring you could want on Dartmoor. North Bovey is a postcard picture perfect image of an English country village, and the place to go for a quiet and restful break.
