Swadlincote is a large town with an interesting history located in the County of Derbyshire. It was once renowned for its coal mining activity that helped to fuel the Industrial Revolution, together with its production of pottery, and pipe work, which is cleverly explained at Sharpe's Pottery and Heritage Centre at the top of West Street. There is a good shopping precinct that is free from traffic, and an attractive Market Square that also has shops and cafes to enjoy. The town has undergone extensive planting and also offers 80 acres of forest trails and footpaths which makes an enjoyable destination to the largest town in Southern Derbyshire.
