Callington is a small town surrounded by woodland and streams in the county of Cornwall, home to five thousand people, and dates back to Saxon times. There is an interesting Trail and Museum that tells a fascinating story. The Medieval church of St Mary has many treasures to share, and a walk down the lane opposite will uncover the Pannier Market. Close by is Dupath Holy Well which is enclosed by a 16th Century granite stone chapel. For lovers of the great outdoors a walk up Kit Hill which rises a thousand feet is a perfect place for a pic nic with a view. Or for a true insight into times long past it has to be seven hundred year old Buckland Abbey, once the home of Cistercian Monks, and the brave heart Sir Francis Drake, there are interesting exhibits, and the house is set beside meadows, and orchards near the River Tavy. Or be prepared to be bewitched at Cotehele House, this Medieval masterpiece houses fine furniture, and tapestries, and the beautiful grounds will show a kaleidoscope of planting, there is also a working Corn Mill still producing flour, or perhaps a journey on a Tamar Sailing Barge will complete this fabulous trip.
