Lanteglos is a village on the River Fowey in Mid Cornwall, bounded on three sides by water, close to the ancient fishing village of Poruan with it’s twisting narrow streets from here the Passenger ferry can be taken to Fowey. The pretty church of St Wyllow has an unusual barrel roof that’s curved through age, the church has the most stunning intricately carved bench ends and Medieval stained glass and impressive Norman font, no wonder Daphne Du Maurier chose to get married here. If the enjoyment of walking some of the most picturesque walks tempts you, then there will be no disappointment, try taking the little path from the church down to Lantic bay. There are many attractions to share such as the Lost gardens of Heligan which is a living history, with flower gardens, Italian garden not to mention the wildlife attraction and jungle. The River Fowey is simply perfect for boating and fishing. Painters will linger with brush poised as they try to capture the magic of the beautiful surroundings. Or why not travel a few miles and visit the world renowned ‘Eden Project’ where you can experience the wonder under the biomes of different climates and plants.
