St Neot is an attractive village nestling in a picturesque River Valley on the edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, and is home to nearly nine hundred people. It has an intriguing history which dates back to Saxon times, there was a Monastery in the 11th Century, the tower of which remains at the impressive 15th Century church which has amazing stained glass windows dating back to Medieval times, and is where a branch is placed in the tower every Oak Apple Day to commemorate Charles II, who hid in a nearby Oak Tree after the Battle of Worcester. The mining of tin and slate led to the growth and prosperity of the village in the past although today tourism, and farming play their part. Walkers and cyclists enjoy the area as it's surrounded by fields, meadows, and Bodmin Moor which has the remains of hut circles to engage visitor's curiosity. Next to the church stands an ancient Coaching Inn where travellers stopped for a drink and a bite on their way to London, there's a handful of shops for the everyday purchase, a market, pottery, and Tea Room to enjoy, and for those who wish to linger there's a superb choice of places to stay from B&B's, Cornish Cottages and farms.
