Cheadle Hulme is in the North West of England on the Cheshire Plain in the south western part of Stockport Borough. It nestles alongside one of the tributaries of the River Mersey, the Lady Brook and has been a settlement since Stone Age Times. The area remained very sparsely populated and, unlike many other Northern towns and villages, the Industrial Revolution did little to change the way of life here in Cheadle Hulme, it still remained very much a rural settlement. The introduction of the railways and improved road network did however bring change, but rather than an industrial change it was a change in population. It brought commuters from Manchester and Stockport, as these places became overpopulated there was a need for expansion and with good road and rail connections it wasn’t long before the town started to grow into what we see today. Cheadle Hulme today may seem noisy and busy but if you take the time to look a little further you will find that there are nice houses, plenty of green open spaces, a great range of local shops together with good schools and local facilities and this is the key as to why Cheadle Hulme is so popular – all these facilities together with plenty of parks and a great deal of heritage make this an ideal location.
