The village of Northop lies nestling between the towns of Flint and Mold just minutes by car away from Chester and within easy reach of the North Wales coast. Its most famous landmark is its church which boasts a tower that is around 100 foot high, St Eurgain and St Peter. This area was at one time famed for its mineral extraction and production however Northop was never involved in this industrial activity, it was more important as a coaching station for those travelling between Holyhead and Chester and this led to its growth as a market centre. Today though Northop is a quiet village, there are few shops however it is home to the Welsh Horticultural College and Northop has also become popular with those who enjoy a game of golf at the local country club which is set in some 250 acres and is a par 72 championship course to USGA specification.
