Sandiway is to be found in the North of England in the County of Cheshire and is today a major residential village. The A49 which passes the village used to be the main route to Manchester before the motorway network and today it is still much in use to avoid those typical motorway traffic jams. It is this convenient road link together with the railway station at nearby Cuddington that makes this an attractive area for residents who enjoy the convenience of working in the city and yet live in the countryside, much the same attraction that first established this as a residential area in the late 19th century when wealthy businessmen first discovered this location – although today the transport is far more comfortable! Many of the large houses that are still seen today were built by local industrialists who were involved in the salt industry for which Northwich is world famous, houses such as Cuddington Grange, Beechfield (today known as Lamb’s Grange) stand evidence to the wealth that this area generated.
