Patchway is a busy town positioned five miles or so from the historic port of Bristol in South West England, and is home to just over ten thousand people. From a small agricultural and farming settlement that was scattered about it grew when the Aircraft Industry arrived in the 1920's, and thirties, with the growing industry so came the workers which resulted in further expansion. The village sprang up around the Common and rapidly grew into the busy town seen today. It has an eclectic mix of architecture lining the roads from attractive cottages, rows of Victorian terraces, 1930's semis, and modern buildings. Today's visitors will uncover a large choice of pubs and Bars, Restaurants catering for most tastes, and a shopping experience to remember with High Street shops, and the Cribbs Causeway whose impressive indoor shopping experience is spread over two storeys offering 135 shops to browse, and a wide choice of restaurants. Nearby there is a chance for walkers and cyclists to enjoy a woodland which dates back centuries, a network of footpaths and cycle ways, and for those who wish to stay for a while there's a range of hotels, cottages, B&B's and even a converted Old Smithy to try.
