Small Heath is an inner city part of Birmingham in West Midlands, home to over thirty five thousand people. It burst into life when the railway arrived in 1863, and an enormous munitions factory was built, followed by an eruption of terraced houses for Irish immigrants who arrived in the early part of the twentieth Century. In the latter part of the century many Asian families arrived and the Muslim Community has seen the outline of Mosques silhouetted against the skyline. The scenery is diverse with attractive squares, parks and a huge choice of shopping, and theatres on offer all of which bestows a beauty to the inner city explorer. From exquisite colourful planting at Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens, to Birmingham Cathedral with it's fabulous stained glass windows, or maybe the 400 year old Aston Hall set within ancient parkland will be top of the list. On a simpler scale Birmingham Back to Backs will rewind time to 1840 and 1977, Art lovers can admire impressive masterpieces at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, or visitors may be bowled over with exhibits that cover a century at Warwickshire County Cricket Club Museum, for all things fishy there's the National Sea Life Centre, or why not indulge chocoholics at the wonderful Cadbury World
