Sunninghill is a village in the Royal County of Berkshire that’s reaches far back into history, now home to 3,300 villagers which is more than in Saxon times. Close enough to Ascot and Windsor to absorb the wonders of history on offer. Or perhaps the delights at Legoland are too many to ignore, with fifty rides from the breath stealing Dragon Coaster where you travel the depths of a castle before flying through the tree tops, to a gentler ride on Brickadilly’s Carousel, of course there are the millions of Lego bricks to admire and the Enchanted Forest full of woodland creatures to explore. If that’s not enough thrills there is Thorpe Park close by where the adrenaline pumps as you ride Nemesis or Colossus, or for smaller visitors a gentle ride on Ollie Octopus or the Swinging Sea Shells are a definite winner. Or possibly the test of picking the winner is more for you, Ascot Race Course is full of history and pageantry whether you win or not, an enjoyable day is bound to be had. The stunning Tudor elegance of Dorney Court is close by, built in 1440 has scintillating examples of fine furniture, with delightful grounds, and the 13th Century church of St James opposite.
