A busy market Town surrounded by beautiful Sussex countryside, gained it’s market status when granted a charter in 1316. The prime industry during 16th and 17th century was iron and Heathfield can claim responsibility for cannon balls fired during many battles. The town still honours the charter and hosts a market every week. If you like to get your sketch pad or watercolours out then no finer place to tempt is the evocative 13th Century church of All Saints. The Sussex Farm Museum will enthral with many buildings surrounding a farm yard and is home to thousands of exhibits and promises both an informative and enjoyable day. If catching fish or talking about the one that ‘got away’ is for you then Bojos farm boasts two lakes where the choice of Bream, Roach, Tench or even Carp are on offer. Close by is the village of Cross in Hand where legend has it that the Crusaders assembled here before setting off for The Holy land. 16 miles away is Elegant Eastbourne, and only 17 miles is the spa town Royal Tunbridge Wells. Both of these historic towns have a myriad of fun filled days of exploring to be had.
