Oxshott is a beautiful village set within the Stockbroker Belt of Surrey, home to 1500 people. Luxurious houses are sprinkled throughout the village that’s skirted by fields and woodland, yet only 30 minutes by train to Waterloo. For a glimpse into the wonders of Mother Nature Oxshott Heath sprawls over 200 acres or there is a buffet of delights on offer close by, the hardest thing is what to do first. Perhaps a good place to start is the Fire and Iron Gallery, where innovative Metal Art is on display in outbuildings that date back to 1450. For an infusion of colour the Royal Horticultural Society Gardens Wisley has stunning examples jostling for attention, complemented by scenic lakes and half timbered Tudor style buildings, or be prepared to be amazed at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, where, if you time your visit right you can enjoy the spectacular sight of five million bulbs when they burst into life, maybe tour around the house of king George 111, take a midnight ramble, or see the new gallery dedicated to Botanical Art. For transport lovers there is Brooklands Museum where the fascinating story is retold of Aviation and Motor Racing, or Cobham Bus Museum where 30 vehicles are on display and take her visitor on a journey though time.
