Easter Kinkell is situated on the Black Isle in the Highlands of Scotland, sitting above the Cromarty Firth with panoramic views across the Firth to Ben Wyvis, Scotland’s second highest mountain and the Monadhliath Mountain range. There has been a settlement in the area dating back to the Neolithic period; ancient remains include Chambered-Cairns and Pictish symbol-stones. Historic attractions include the Z-plan Kinkell Castle near Conon Bridge dating from 1594, Culloden Moor in Inverness and Dunrobin Castle near Golspie. Easter Kinkell is surrounded by magnificent scenery and good trails for walking or cycling and is a popular holiday resort with a hotel and a selection of holiday accommodation and plenty places to eat nearby. Activities include fishing in either the sea, Loch or River, clay pigeon shooting, abseiling, canoeing, off-road 4x4 driving, go-kart racing, stalking, shooting and golfing. Easter Kinkell is approximately a half hour drive from Loch Ness with Urquhart Castle and monster-spotting cruises, an hour away from the Western Isles and Ullapool. John O Groats is a two and a half hour trip to the well-known staring point of the long distance walk to Lands End and for catching the ferry across to Orkney. There are Highland shows and games throughout the summer months in a variety of locations.
