"The Garden Resort of the East Coast " is a Victorian/Edwardian seaside town that has retained its charm over the ages. The seafront is over 4 miles long, with an excellent paved promenade level with the sand and shingle beach for most of the 4 miles. In May, there is an annual Drama Festival, in the Spa Pavilion Theatre, which has a wide variety of shows throughout the year, catering for all tastes from ballet to pop. There is also a local history museum, and Landguard Fort, the scene of the last invasion of England in 1667. Felixstowe also has a number of Martello Towers, built to prevent Napoleon from landing on the East Coast. Along side the Fort is a Nature Reserve and Bird Observatory.
Felixstowe has won the coveted Blue Flag and Seaside Awards for the last four years, and the beaches are safe and gently shelving. The resort has children's attractions and amusements, a bowling green, golf course and many sporting opportunities. A wide range of cafes restaurants and ice cream parlours cater for all tastes. A range of Events takes place throughout the year. Population 30,000
