Latest reviews | Events in Raglan | 10 Places to Stay

The village of Raglan is situated some nine miles south-west of Monmouth, midway between Monmouth and Abergavenny on the A40. It is most famous for its castle which boasts great multi-angular towers and Tudor-styling, unlike any other in Wales. The castle will soon be opening its new visitor centre after many months of preparation but this is not the only reason to come here. Each year, the Raglan Music festival gets bigger and better - in 2007 the warm sunshine, over forty superb performances and crowds into the thousands ensured that it was seen as one of the most popular events of the year and over 600 applications to perform have been received for the 2008 event. Some wonder if the Raglan area has a particular spiritual energy as the local Baptist church has over fifty youngsters attending its youth club and also close to Raglan is the peaceful and tranquil Lam rim centre which offers weekend retreats around themes such as mindfulness, meditation and yoga as well as being a living centre for Buddhist practice. Raglan inhabitants pride themselves on the beauty of their village and this is reflected in its frequent Wales in Bloom competition awards. .
