Rowen is located in North Wales in the Conwy Valley within the Snowdonia National Park and with a reputation for peace and tranquillity. Just four miles South of Conwy it is to be found between Conwy and Trefriw and is a favourite with walkers and ramblers who walk the moorland and countryside that lie above this little village. Along the Roman Road, above the village, it passes close to many sites of historical interest including the Maen-y-Bardd, a megalithic burial chamber that dates back to 3,500BC, it is set high on the hill and offers some spectacular views along the valley. A little further along the Roman Road you will find more standing stones at Bwlch y Ddeufaen. What makes Rowen stand out as one of the prettiest villages, apart form the stunning scenery, are the whitewashed cottages all fronting the main road in what seems a perfect setting. Every year around 20 of the best gardens are opened to the public but only for one day only, in May, so that gardeners and visitors can enjoy the spectacle that the residents have created.
