Llansteffan is on the B4312 nestling on the peninsula between the rivers Towy & Taff, approx 7 miles south west of Carmarthen. With spectacular views overlooking the Towy river estuary, this is the type of place you really won’t want to tell too many people about in case its charms become overrun! Llansteffan is known for the imposing castle which dates from the C12th. Its main remaining feature is an impressive gateway but also check out the spiral staircase. The beach at Llansteffan is clean and appealing, running the length of the village around the castle grounds to Scotts Bay. It has the biggest cockle bank in Wales; so you might want to try some whilst you’re here. There is a variety of good accommodation: the luxurious Mansion House Hotel, the Sticks Inn and The Swansea Bay Caravan Park being examples of this diversity . If Llansteffan itself doesn’t have enough to amuse, you are within easy reach of Oakwood Theme Park, The enchanting Dan – yr –Ogof Caves and the magnificent National Botanic gardens of Wales. Remember, if you must get into town, you are only 10 -15 minutes away from Carmarthen - but you probably won’t want to.
