Located on the outskirts on the City of Manchester in the North West of England. Didsbury benefits from easy access to the City centre with good public transport links and the M56 motorway is close by as is the M60. The earliest building that is still standing today in Didsbury is St James Church, built around Saxon Times and having been the subject of numerous rebuilding works is today a thriving church with good attendance. Before Roman times the area around Didsbury was lain mainly to woodland, close to the River Mersey south of Manchester and today it still retains that almost rural feel in parts. Today Didsbury has grown into a thriving town that, for commuters, allows easy access to the City of Manchester whilst not losing the village feel that it has enjoyed throughout history. Today a stroll around Didsbury will reveal the splendid Fletcher Moss Gardens consisting of around 10 acres of exotic plants including some palm trees. The gardens are named after a Manchester Alderman, Fletcher Moss, who purchased the adjoining property and gardens in 1914 and in 1919 subsequently bequeathed it to the corporation for public use. Take time to visit the town centre and resident and visitor alike are rewarded with a variety of local shops, bars and restaurants where you can take the time to enjoy the local sights and sounds.
