Merriott is a Somerset village, which is found about two miles north of Crewkerne. It lies in a rural location in the southernmost part of the county. The A303 trunk road passes just to the north of the village offering access to the south west and central south of England. There are two charming pubs to be sampled in the village, The King's Head and The Swan Inn, both offering Real Ales. The Swan Inn also has a beer garden. If you are looking for bed and breakfast, you could stay in a pigsty at Greenways Bed and Breakfast. Don't worry though, this particular pigsty has been converted into a clean and comfortable bedroom with plenty of charm, an ensuite bathroom and even wireless Internet connection. The village also boasts a church dating back to the 15th century. Nearby Crewkerne is a historic town, which dates back to the late mediaeval period. In the 18th and 19th centuries cloth making was the major industry of the town and there are some fine buildings left from this period. Crewkerne also has a 15th century church, indicating the strength and wealth of the church in the area during that period.
