Raddington is a part of the parish of Chipstable in Somerset, which also includes the village of Watterow. Set on the Taunton to Barnstaple road, the parish lies on the southern edge of the Brendon Hills. There is a church at Raddington, but no village. Historians are unsure if there has ever been a village on the site, or why there would be a church built if there was no village? The parish is set in beautiful undulating countryside to the west of the Taunton Deane district. It is probably one of the smallest in the district, being just a collection of tiny hamlets with a total population of about 200. The community is rural in nature but with several successful small businesses. There is a busy pub at Waterrow, The Rock Inn. Formerly The Rock House Inn, it was converted from a former Smithy around 1850. The building was already some 300 years old by this time. All Saints Church at Chipstable retains its mediaeval tower with its battlements, although most of the church was rebuilt in the 19th century. The area is a popular tourist destination and offers self catering facilities including caravan sites, wooden chalets on the hillside and cottages to rent.
