The tiny hamlet of Rudge is found about four miles northeast of Frome in the rural English county of Somerset. This charming haven is also only about 10 miles from the spa city of Bath. The trip to Bath is well worth the trouble, with its Roman history and Georgian splendour. Activities available locally include fishing, shooting, horse riding and golf. There are also many fine walks available in the locality. Only about four miles away is the famous Longleat Safari Park. Longleat has always been internationally renowned for the 'Lions of Longleat' but today there are over 500 animals that you can see at the Elizabethan country estate. Longleat was the first Safari Park of its kind and consider a major breakthrough in allowing animals to roam free in large enclosures, rather than small cages like a traditional zoo. You can also visit Longleat House, an Elizabethan Country House with its beautiful landscaped gardens and maze. On returning to Rudge you could stay at The Full Moon. This delightful 17th century inn has a reputation for fine food and comfort. The bar serves local ales and there are comfortable ensuite bedrooms. Recent additions include an indoor pool that is open to all overnight guests, and self-catering cottages.
