Wellow is a pretty village just five miles from the City of Bath, in Somerset. The village is a centre for walkers as the streams, woodland and patchwork countryside is second to none. The National Cycle Network is here and leads to the Kennett & Avon Canal, the 14th Century church has delightful wall paintings. For the lovers of history the twin arched Medieval Bridge and the Roman Remains not to mention the 6,000 year old Long Barrow won’t fail to please. The Trekking Centre will take you on horse or pony along bridleways through picturesque scenery, or why not try quad biking, or archery. With the close proximity of Bath a great journey of discovery awaits, perhaps starting at the Abbey where the stunning Gothic spires commands the skyline, or there is always the wonderful show of architectural prowess at the Roman Baths, why not taste the waters in the 18th Century pump Room. Or perhaps the Jane Austen Centre, where the story of her life unfolds, perhaps for tired feet a stop at Sally Lunn’s Museum which is the oldest house in Bath dating back to the 15th Century, why not try a Sally Lunn Bun made to her original recipe.
