Born 1813. Died 1865 - Scottish poet and humorist.


His first publication was a collection of romantic pastiches, Poland, Homer and Other Poems (1832), and in 1836 he began writing for Blackwood’s Magazine for which he contributed countless parodies and burlesque reviews. Other works include Bon Gaultier Ballads (1854), Lays of the Scottish Cavaliers and Other Poems (1848) and Norman Sinclair (1861).
