Born 1853. Died 1922 - English suffragist, trade unionist and novelist.
Set up militant Women’s Trade Union Association (1889). Merged with Women’s Industrial Council, she became its President, collecting data on women’s work and campaigning against sweated industries. Best known book is Married Women’s Work (1915), wrote number of novels.
