Born 1942 - Stage director and dramatist.


Began career as documentary scriptwriter for Scottish Television. Associate director of Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh. Director of Cottesloe Theatre. Head of drama for BBC Television Scotland from 1984-93, directed three films from his own screenplay. Directed the Ship, a large-scale epic play set at a Clydesdale shipyard. Awarded the CBE in 1993.
