Died on 30th of November 1603

Born 1544. Died 1603 - English physician.

Appointed physician to Queen Elizabeth I (1601) and James I (1603). Published De Magnete (1600) which described the magnetic nature of the Earth. The gilbert unit of magneto-motive power is named after him.
