Born 1851. Died 1935 - English metallurgist.
Studied at the Royal School of Mines, London. Carried out experimental work with his cousin to aid the removal phosphate impurities in iron ore. Known as the Gilchrist-Thomas process it enabled the use of large European phosphoric iron ore fields.
